Glazed, hand-built ceramic boats I made for the palette painting I was working on a few posts back.
I want a flat shiny ceramic boat as a pop of colour in the foreground of the dusky, up-cycled, gouache painting.

I developed the outline illustration of the boat in Adobe Illustrator on Mac, from a photo I took of Loch Ness. I then did some sketching in Adobe Sketch on iPad to get the feel for the outline of the boat in situ on the water.

I cut out the shapes of the boats on the rolled out clay (it reminded me of school), then with a tool I marked in the lines of the boat.
I kept the line work very loose, to represent the fuzzy outlines you get from the half-light of dusk and implied movement of the boat.
